Mickey Mouse as an Avenger? The ultimate Disney x Marvel comic crossover you’ve been waiting for!

Published on 15 March 2025 at 18:39

If you're like me and you've always been obsessed with Disney and Marvel, then this new comic crossover is going to blow your mind! Imagine your favorite Disney characters not just getting their own superhero suits, but becoming part of the legendary Avengers team. Well, that dream is now a reality in MARVEL & DISNEY: WHAT IF...? MICKEY & FRIENDS BECAME THE AVENGERS #1. It’s the perfect combination of Disney magic and Marvel excitement, and I can’t get enough of it!

A dream team like no other

Released on March 5, 2025, this comic series takes a hilarious and action-packed spin on the iconic Avengers roster by swapping in Disney’s classic characters. Here’s the rundown on who’s rocking some superhero flair in this mash-up:

  • Mickey Mouse becomes Iron Man—talk about a classic hero with techy charm!
  • Donald Duck trades in his sailor suit for Thor’s mighty hammer—I mean, who else could wield it and throw tantrums at the same time?
  • Goofy as The Hulk—this is honestly perfect. Can you imagine Goofy trying to control the Hulk’s strength and temper? Comedy gold.
  • Minnie Mouse and Pluto as The Wasp and Ant-Man—Tiny heroes with huge personalities? Yes, please.
  • And there’s even a Gladstone-Loki twist involved! Talk about making this universe even more unpredictable.

Written by Luca Barbieri and Steve Behling, with the amazing artwork of Alessandro Pastrovicchio, this comic doesn’t just combine superheroes—it fuses two of the most beloved franchises in pop culture. The result? Pure, hilarious chaos!

The story: Cake monsters, mischief, and Avengers Assemble!

The adventure begins when Minnie-Wasp and Pluto-Ant-Man shrink down to investigate trouble at a party in Duckburg. Meanwhile, Mickey Mouse is monitoring a police scanner and hears about Goofy-Hulk being wanted for a cake thievery—yes, a bicentenary cake theft! Mickey suiting up as Iron Man is the key to setting the stage for the ultimate superhero team-up, though the armor is stuck at the top of his wardrobe (oops!).

At the same time, in a park, Gladstone-Loki is causing mischief by making Thor-Donald think he’s seeing Goofy-Hulk. As all of this plays out, the gang begins to assemble in Ducksgard, with Sif left all alone. The situation is about to get much crazier, with plenty of laughs, action, and Marvel-Disney madness ahead.

The story is inspired by the legendary Avengers #1 from 1963, which saw the original Avengers—Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant-Man, and Wasp—join forces for the first time. In this hilarious version, we get the Disney-fied version of these iconic heroes, and it’s a ride you won’t want to miss!

Why I’m loving this idea for a comic

As someone who’s a huge fan of both Disney and Marvel (and comics!), I was beyond excited when I heard about this crossover.  I have never read a comic like this before. It looks like it takes the reader to a whole new level by blending the magic of Disney characters with the thrilling world of Marvel superheroes. I mean, I can’t wait to see Goofy as The Hulk—it's just such a perfect fit for his goofy personality!

Plus, let’s be real: this kind of fun, quirky mash-up gives us the best of both worlds. Who wouldn’t want to see Mickey and friends in superhero action? It’s like childhood nostalgia meets superhero excitement, and I’m here for it!
